Cross stitch centering calculator
Find the design boundary on your fabric and understand odd/even chart centers.
How it works
For a centered rectangular design, subtract its stitched size from the fabric size and divide the remaining space by two. The result locates the design boundary, not a needle hole: verify it against the weave. Odd chart dimensions have a central cell; even dimensions have their center between two cells. Coordinates below are one-based.
A worked example
A 140 × 196 chart on 14 count measures 10 × 14 inches. On 16 × 20 inch fabric, the design boundary starts 3 inches from the left and top edges.
